Academic Advising Services

Ace Acumen Academy Advisors are here to help students adjust to the demands of college = life by assisting them with academic challenges, as well as career and educational planning. All advising is voluntary, by appointment, easily arranged and confidential.

Academic Advising

Advisors provide guidance to deal with academic challenges. Students can gather information here on how to become a more effective learner.

Stress and Problem-Solving

The pressure of school or life can affect a student’s abilities to cope with their program. When this takes place, advisors can provide short-term support to help develop coping strategies, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Community referrals may be made. *Note: Not treatment/therapy/counseling for diagnosed mental illness (e.g. depression, anxiety, bipolar, etc)

Career Planning

Through exploration of options (workshops and seminars), advisors assist students with career decision-making and skills.

How to Receive Services?

To book an appointment with a college advisor call: Ace Acumen Front Desk/Receptionist:  416 756-7227 ext. 114

Confidentiality and Self Advocacy

Advisors adhere to confidentiality and only communicate with the student regarding their program, progress, and accommodations. Any communication with College faculty staff and administration supporting student success will not disclose the nature of a disability.

Students are expected to develop self-advocacy skills, e.g. learning about college processes and supports, communicating with teachers, or identifying issues and concerns and seeking out appropriate supports.

Communication from the College to the student will be through the assigned College email system. Students should check their account regularly.

Booking appointments with Accessibility or advising services must be made by contacting Reception – see ‘How to Receive Services’ above for contact information.
